Outokumpu of Sheffield have made a very special Christmas decoration with all proceeds going towards Sheffield Hospitals Charity to help people live better with dementia. The steel used to make these beautiful decorations is melted in Lapland then finished in Sheffield. They are an exclusive and limited run and they will last a lifetime.
They come packaged with personalised ribbon and information about the steel and the dementia fund.
Outokumpu are making around 2000 of these for the charity. They are hand packed by staff inbetween working!
The funds raised are supporting 3 projects to help people live better with dementia
"Too many people are admitted to hospital for things that could be treated in the community.
We know that people living with dementia tend to deteriorate rapidly in hospital. The change of environment can be frightening and confusing.
We are committed to helping people live better with dementia in Sheffield.
From providing specialist training, improving in-hospital experiences, and helping people in our communities stay independent for longer. Our plans are ambitious, and we are determined to make them a reality with your help"
We're building two gardens at the Northern General connected by a reminiscence corridor.
Were training all hospital staff about dealing with, understanding and caring for dementia patients
And the main project is about keeping ppl out of hospital when they can be treated at home
